JC Penney’s new ad for Father’s Day
The text reads:
“First Pals: What makes Dad so cool? He’s the swim coach, tent maker, best friend, bike fixer and hug giver—all rolled into one. Or two.” The text at the bottom reads: “Real-life dads, Todd Koch and Cooper Smith with their children Claire and Mason.”
HELL TO THE MUTHAFUCKIN YES.
I am not even kidding when I say I am going to start shopping at JC Penney. I LOVE that they are not backing down. Fucking A, love it.
This is great. I work for Gap, Inc., and later this year they are coming out with an ad campaign (I don’t know if it’s a tv spot or just paper, gap doesn’t typically run tv spots) with the slogan BE YOU, and it’s pretty much about putting their support for gay rights on display (which I mean everyone knew that already, but still). The other day they put out literature to their employees that was educating them on Stonewall and the gay rights movement, and their involvment in Pride month. There are a lot of shitty things about my job, but I absolutely love this about my company. And kudos to JcPenney for taking a stand! Its sad that retail can have this much power over people, but consumers are influenced greatly by these types of campaigns, without even trying, and it’s nice to see a retailer using their powers for good.
